Event 3: NOISE AQUARIUM

This past week I attended the “NOISE AQUARIUM Online Meditation: Oxygen for South Asia” event. The event focused on the importance of oxygen, especially during a time when breathing is so essential. COVID-19 flipped our world upside down and brought to light that one of the crucial things to living (being able to breathe) is not guaranteed. I thought this event was extraordinary in the way that it was able to bring people from all over the world together to focus on the importance of breath and oxygen collectively. Aside from the special meaning of the event, I thought the digital art used in the background of the presentation was excellent.

The animations were intricate and beautiful; they added to the overall experience. The visuals depicted the ocean waves and different creatures that live in the ocean. This reminded me of the unit BioTech + Art because animators used art to illustrate biological processes and animals. The overall focus of the event was to reach internal balance through meditation to “commune with plankton”. I appreciated this event shedding light on the struggles that South Asia has faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. I think the past year has taught everyone that we must think outside of our little bubble because we all live on the same planet at the end of the day. This event touched me and has made me consider not taking for granted even the most basic human functions; I am grateful that this was my farewell to DESMA9.
